US 20 Over Walker Brook
42′ Span x 10′ Rise Arch Box
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation undertook a project involving replacement of five bridges on US 20 between Becket and Chester, Massachusetts. Two of the replacement structures are ECO-SPAN® arches manufactured by United Concrete Products. The new arch bridge at Walker Brook replaced a cast-in-place concrete slab bridge built in 1900 and reconstructed in 1929.
In order to maintain traffic without a detour, the precast arch was installed in two phases. Precast concrete headwalls supplied with the arch were designed to support MASSDOT S3-TL4 bridge rail.
